The hardware is all part of the physical computer. Hardware devices that are distinguished by the data in it or who operate in it, and the software that provides instructions for the hardware to complete the task. In general there are four basic components in a computer related.
Unit Input (Input), which is a device that allows the user to enter commands into the computer.
included in the input unit are: keyboard, mouse, joystick, and digitizer.
- Unit Output (Output), which is a device that allows users to receive information on the results of processing by the computer. Examples of devices that are included in the output unit are: monitor, printer, and plotter.
- Main Memory Unit (Main memory), a device used to store data, programs, and computer information processing results at the time of processing. The main memory unit consists of many cells, each of which can hold one unit of information. The main memory unit consists of two parts, the ROM (Read Only Memory) and RAM (Random Access Memory). ROM can only be written once and then can only be read. RAM can be written, erased and read again and again. Data, program, and the information being processed is stored in RAM, and will be lost if the computer is turned off. That is why the data, programs, and information will be used again stored in the additional storage media (secondary storage) such as, hard disk, diskette, CD, tape and others.
- Central Processing Unit (Central Processing Unit), which is used to process the data, programs, and information on the computer. There are two important parts in the CPU Arithmetic and Logical Unit (ALU) and Control Unit. Many people mentioned the ALU is the heart of a computer. ALU is responsible for the two basic operations of arithmetic operations and comparisons. While the Control Unit is responsible for all activities menkoordinasi other units, such as how the keyboard can be recognized and worked as an input unit which is understandable activities.
